CM Majhi expresses strong displeasure over young officers’ involvement in corruption
Bhubaneswar(28/10/2025): Odisha Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday expressed strong displeasure over the involvement of young officers in corruption. Speaking at the Anti-Corruption Awareness Week programme in Bhubaneswar, the Chief Minister said that these government officers once dreamed of serving the people. They used to say they would provide honest service, but that is now rarely reflected in their actions. He added that many of them were once praised in newspapers for securing top ranks in IAS and OAS examinations, but today the same newspapers report their arrests for corruption.“For just a little money, they are selling off their ideals and principles,” the Chief Minister said, adding that such incidents have deeply worried the people of the state. The CM further warned corrupt officers, saying that the Vigilance Department will neither forgive nor spare anyone involved in corruption. The Chief Minister informed that in the past 16 months, several high-ranking officers have been caught — including IAS officers, seven Chief Engineers, five Tahsildars, four BDOs, ten police officers, and one DFO.
