Cyclone ‘Montha’ forms over Bay of Bengal; rainfall begins in Gajapati & Ganjam
Bhubaneswar(27/10/2025) Cyclone ‘Montha’ has formed over the Bay of Bengal. By October 28, the cyclone is expected to intensify into a severe cyclone. It is likely to make landfall near Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh between October 28 evening and midnight. Eight districts have been declared as Red Zones, and Anganwadi centers will remain closed on October 28 and 29. The decision regarding closure on October 27 and 30 will be taken by the respective district administrations. The eight Red Zone districts are Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Nabarangpur. For the six Orange Zone districts, the final decision will depend on the situation. The Orange Zone districts are Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, and Bhadrak. Due to the cyclone’s influence, rainfall has already begun in Gajapati and Ganjam districts. A danger signal number 3 has been issued for Gopalpur port.
