
Stone pelting during Dussehra immersion in Cuttack: Six arrested
Cuttack (04/10/2025): The Commissionerate Police on Saturday arrested six persons for their alleged involvement in the stone pelting incident during Dussehra immersion in Cuttack last night. According to Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh, the arrest was made after identified of the accused through CCTV cameras and drone cameras. He said, "Four injured are in good condition.The situation has been normalised." Tension ran high at Darghabazar in Cuttack after a clash broke out between two groups during the idol immersion of Goddess Durga late on Friday night. The clash reportedly broke out after locals allegedly objected to some songs played in a procession. Six persons, including DCP Rishikesh Khilari, sustained injuries in stone pelting and glass bottle attacks. Following the incident, police resorted to lathicharge to bring the situation under control. Several vehicles were also damaged in stone pelting.
